Data needs, scientific methods and stock assessment support for high seas squid fisheries.
About the group
GRC High Seas Fisheries will establish a scientific group of experts with an initial focus on States and fishing entities whose vessels participate/d in the squid fishery in the South-West Atlantic high seas.
The scientific group will discuss, among other things, data needs, scientific methodologies to support stock assessments, and any other science-related matters relevant to these high seas fisheries.
The chair will convene a virtual meeting in late 2026 to confirm its membership of relevant scientists from partner institutions, identify independent experts to be invited to join the group, and begin the development of a workplan.

The Global Research Cooperative for High Seas Fisheries is an informal partnership of ocean research institutions supporting science and policy cooperation on high seas fisheries beyond existing regional fisheries management organisations and arrangements.
